LG Solar is a photovoltaic manufacturer based in South Korea. As of 2019, LG Solar is producing Made in the USA solar panels in their Huntsville, Alabama manufacturing facility.

As a Tier 1 Bloomberg manufacturer with numerous awards, LG Solar leads the industry with its high efficiency solar cell technology coupled with a 25-year comprehensive warranty. This warranty includes parts, labor (up to $450), and a performance guarantee.

The latest LG solar products include the NeON R, NeON 2 72-cell, NeON 2 Bifacial, and NeON 2 Black series modules. The N-Type cells used in these modules have nearly no boron which results in less LID (Light Induced Degradation) following installation. LG Solar modules are durable and can sustain a front load of up to 6000 Pa and a rear load of 5400 Pa. 

LG NeON R 

The NeON R is LG Solar’s flagship high-efficiency solar panel with efficiency ratings of up to 21.4%. The LG NeON R applies Back Contact Technology with no electrodes on the front to increase light absorption. This 60-cell N-type monocrystalline module offers a power output of 350 to 370 watts with an improved temperature coefficient. LG Solar also just released a new all-black NeON R Prime option.

LG NeON 2 

The LG NeON 2 is a N-type module with Cello technology that replaces 3-5 busbars with 12 thin wires to enhance power output and reliability. Cello technology improves the absorption of light with circular-shaped wires that scatters light more effectively. LG developed Cello technology (Cell connection with electrically low loss, low stress and optical absorption enhancement) which increases power output and improves appearance.

LG NeON 2 Black

The LG NeON 2 Black module features a sleek all black appearance. This 60-cell monocrystalline solar panel provides a power output of 300 to 320 watts with an efficiency rating of up to 18.7%.

LG NeON 2 72-Cell 

LG Solar also offers a range of XL monocrystalline solar panels for larger scale commercial applications. The NeON 2 72-cell module was designed to deliver an enhanced output efficiency. These XL commercial sized modules range in power output of 365 to 405 watts with an efficiency rating of up to 19.5%

LG NeON 2 72-Cell Bifacial

The NeON 2 72-cell Bifacial module features bifacial solar cells and Cello technology to achieve up to an additional 30% power output. The NeON 2 solar cells have a double-sided cell structure that can produce energy from both the front and back. This makes LG NeON 2 bifacial cells particularly more efficient than conventional cells in mornings and evenings when the incident angle is lower. With a transparent backsheet, the bifacial solar panel is able to absorb light from the backside, raising efficiency.

History of LG Solar

Originally founded as GoldStar in 1958, the company did not begin its research and development of silicon crystalline cells until 1985. Then in 1989, Goldstar merged with Lucky Chemical to create the LG Group. The company continued its research and development over the next 20 years until the construction of their PV cell and module production facility in South Korea. Today’s LG Solar is a subsidiary of the LG Corporation.
