Types of Carport Mounts

There are several different styles of solar carport mount to accommodate a range of designs and parking configurations. The most common for smaller systems is the L-design multi-pole mount (MPM) from Preformed Line Products. This mount uses off-the-shelf structural materials (e.g. Sched 40 steel pipe and square tubing) configured for a specific module and array size. The cement foundations for these mounts is typically more than 60 inches deep and 36 inches diameter, although it will vary for local wind and snow conditions.

Large Project Carport Mounts > 50kW

There are also carports for larger systems greater than 50kW solar arrays. These mounts are custom fabricated for each project. The foundation requirements are much more robust. They include three basic designs; Y-canopy, T-canopy or L-canopy as shown below.
