The SMA Sunny Boy Smart Energy SBSE 3.8 is a hybrid 3,840 watt (3.8 kW) AC output PV solar inverter designed for residential solar projects. This transformerless, split-phase inverter features a compact design for fast, simple installation and commissioning. The Sunny Smart Energy inverter combines the functions of a solar and battery inverter into a single unit, at minimum weight. While with most grid-tied inverters, when the grid goes down, so does the solar-powered home. Yet with the SMA Smart Energy's new technology, this hybrid solution provides daytime energy to a dedicated power outlet during grid outages, providing homeowners with access to power as the sun shines with or without a battery.
