SMA Sunny Boy Smart Energy hybrid inverters are designed for residential systems up to 20 kW. Sunny High Power and TriPower inverters are for 3-phase commercial systems from 20 kW up to the MW range. Sunny Central is custom-built for solar power plants from 250 kW to 800 kW. Sunny Island is designed for off-grid systems from 3 kW to 26 kW. Windy Boy inverters are for wind energy power plants. SMA also provides monitoring systems that continuously monitor power yields.
SMA has two lines of inverters: String and Central. String Inverters are utilized in residential solar arrays. Central Inverters are physically larger, with longer wires and covert more power per unit; they are used in commercial and large solar arrays.
