Enphase Ensemble Home Battery Storage Backup

When the grid is down, you have power. And when the grid is up, you can save money with the Enphase Ensemble energy management system. The Ensemble series by Enphase includes these components:

Encharge 3.8 or 10.5 kWh storage systems

These all-in-one AC-coupled storage systems include the long-lasting lithium batteries and AC micro-inverters in a safe and modern enclosure. The Encharge 10T battery is made of three Encharge 3 units in a single enclosure designed with the ability to connect multiple Encharge 10 storage systems to maximize potential for whole home backup. The Encharge 3T battery provides great flexibility by allowing you to start small and then add incremental capacity.

IQ Controller Smart Switch

The Enphase Enpower smart switch is the central brain that connects the home to grid power, the Encharge battery, and PV solar panels. It provides micro-grid interconnection device (MID) functionality by automatically detecting and seamlessly transitioning the system from grid power to backup power in the event of a grid failure.

IQ Combiner with Envoy

The IQ combiner consolidates wiring connections into a single enclosure and streamlines PV and storage installations by providing a consistent, pre-wired solution for most projects. The IQ combiner allows up 80A of power output at 240Vac, or up to 19,200 watts of electricity. The IQ Combiner 3 include the Envoy gateway, while the IQ Combiner 3C includes Envoy and an integrated LTE-M cell modem with 5-year data plan. The unit has space for four circuit breakers up to 20A each (Eaton BR series sold seperately). It can be mounted indoors or outdoors with durable NRTL-certified NEMA type 3R enclosure. The IQ Comber is UL listed and has a five-year limited warranty.

Wireless communication kit

The wireless communication kit COMMS-KIT-01 talks between Encharge battery, Enpower smart switch, and IQ Envoy gateway. It uses multiple frequencies in parallel for maximum reliability. The kit is connected to one of the USB ports on the IQ Envoy.

Smart, simple and safe, Ensemble technology features a distributed architecture with no single point of failure, resistant to extreme temperatures and humidity based on semiconductor technology, and a passive cooling system with no moving parts.

Ensemble ensures that when the grid is down, you will continue to have solar and battery power. When the grid is back up, the Ensemble systems can save you money by using the cheaper stored solar power during periods of peak utility price rates. Ensemble systems support whole home or partial home backup configurations.

Whole home backup with IQ System Controller as service entrance

This is the preferred configuration for back up of the entire main load panel. This configuration supports up to an 80A breaker each for the PV circuit (or IQ Combiner), battery storage and optional Generator.

Partial home backup with Sub-panel

This is the preferred configuration for partial home backup with sub-panel with PV and IQ Battery. The existing main load center is the service entrance. Generator can be integrated with IQ System Controller based on the homeowner’s needs.

Whole home backup with Solar Only backup

This is the preferred configuration for backup of the entire main load panel using only IQ8 PV. Generator can be integrated with IQ System Controller based on the homeowner’s needs.

Partial home backup with Solar Only backup

This is the preferred configuration for partial home backup with subpanel using only IQ8 PV. Generator can be integrated with IQ System Controller based on the homeowner needs
