Connecticut Solar Rebates
The state of Connecticut offers renewable energy incentives that can reduce installation costs by nearly 80%. Residents can also receive exemptions from state property sales taxes. These Connecticut rebates can be combined with the 30% federal energy tax credit.
The Connecticut Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority (CEFIA) is designed to make renewable solar energy more affordable by offering guidelines, rebates and incentives. The solar power rebate program is available to residential, business, nonprofit, multi-family, community, government and institutional customers of Connecticut electric companies.
The solar photovoltaic (PV) rebate program is administered by qualified installers. Solar power equipment and components must be new and listed on the California Energy Commission list of eligible equipment. Inverters and installation must carry a minimum 5-year warranty; PV panels must carry a minimum 20-year warranty.
Funding for the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund is limited and available on a first-come, first-served approved application basis. In 2012, there were 160 solar applications approved to receive rebates. Their is no limit set for the 100% property and sale tax exemptions.
The rebate level for customer-owned residential solar systems is $2.275 per watt for the first five kilowatts (kW) and $1.075 for the next 5,000 watts up to 10kW, with the payment adjusted based on expected system performance. Leased, or third-party owned systems may qualify for a power production incentive of $0.30 per kWh or kilo-watt hour.
Installation is limited to pre-approved solar installers through a request for qualification (RFQ) process. Installers are responsible for all paperwork necessary to obtain the rebate from the CEFIA on behalf of CT residents. Contact us at Sunwatts for help with the latest Connecticut solar discounts.
